So as some of you may know, this past weekend was the Chuseok holiday in South Korea and unsurprisingly, there are TV specials involving idols. One of those shows was by one of the TV networks tvN entitled V-1. It's basically a three episode special that involves contestants from various girl groups battling out to see who's the best singer of the lot. At the end of the day, Yeonjung from WJSN (and I.O.I fame) won out over the other contestants. I watched a few of the performances and there were some that really stood out to me so I figured I would share them here.
First up would be Siyeon from Dreamcatcher. She did a pretty unique rendition of Overdose by EXO. Vocally I didn't think it was that impressive but the arrangement and everything was good and it was an enjoyable performance.
Next up is the winner Yeonjung from WJSN's performance of Fine by Taeyeon. Yeonjung's got some impressive chops and I think manages to do the song justice. I love Taeyeon though so bias will probably never think anyone can top the original.
Another impressive performance in the finals was from one of the groups I enjoy, SONAMOO's High.D. She performed Fate by Lee Sun Hee. Her vocals here were pretty ridiculous. You could probably argue that she should have won the whole thing with a performance like this but it is what it is. A lot of vocal talent was put on display here with a very emotional performance.
Finally on the list is Nayoung from yet another underrated group, Gugudan. She performed the song Me, In by the Wonder Girls. She puts on a sassy performance here and shows off her vocals. It's probably not one of the best performances on the show but I'm biased towards some of the Produce 101 groups so I'm putting it here.
