If you've read my previous stuff, you know I'm a big fan of artists covering other artists' songs. Today's episode of Music Core featured a couple of covers and what was even better was they were covers from artists that I quite enjoy! It's quite enjoyable seeing groups or at least members of groups doing these sorts of things. This episode's special performance was due to this upcoming Lunar New Year and it being the year of the rat so as a result, we have artists born in 1996 doing these special performances.
To start off we have a cover of the forever iconic song, Gee by Girls' Generation. In this cover we have the three CLC members Seungyeon, Yujin, and Sorn. Accompanying them for this stage is Momoland's Hyebin, WJSN's Soobin, and APRIL's Chaekyung. This was a cute performance and having CLC in this was pretty great for me personally. Unsurprisingly, Gee was one of the first songs songs that kept me in Kpop way back in the day and really made me fall in love with SNSD and Kpop in general but, that's a story for another day. Next up, Rowoon from SF9 as well as the wonderful Chanmi from AOA did a cover of Call You Bae. Originally this song was by EXO's Xiumin and AOA's Jimin. This was pretty cute and was cool that Chanmi got to cover her group leader's song with her FNC labelmate. Rowoon's vocals were pretty good. I thought Chanmi was fine here but there's something that Jimin brought to the song that Chanmi just didn't really bring here for me. With that being said, I still enjoyed the stage. Hopefully we'll see more of AOA and Chanmi this year!
