2019 ITZY Year End Special Performances

No surprise to see the monster rookies ITZY at the year end Kpop specials this year. ITZY debuted in February of this year and have released two songs so far, Dalla Dalla and ICY. I have no doubt that these ladies will find more success in the 2020's.

We start off with SBS's year end special where they performed a cute cover of Twice's TT. They followed this up by dropping their varsity jackets and transitioning into a remix of ICY and finishing off with Dalla Dalla.

ITZY then went on to KBS's special a couple of days later with another cover of their sunbaes, Miss A and their debut song, Bad Girl Good Girl.

This was then followed up with a bit of an oddly remixed version of ICY. If you read my previous post about Twice's year end performances, I made a comment about awkward sounding remixes for year end specials. This is probably one of them. If you remix of a song, you should at least try to make it sound good. This just sounds like parts were remixed for the sake of remixing. Thankfully a lot of the song sounds similar to the original but the remixed parts are a bit odd.

Just to throw another show into the mix, ITZY was also invited to the SBS Entertainment Awards this year where they performed Dalla Dalla and had a bit of fun with the audience as well near the end.

Finally, we close out 2019 with ITZY on MBC's year end special. ITZY had a bit of a "graduation ceremony" making note of their great rookie status and I guess it was also sort of a tribute to the (close to) end of their first year since their debut.

And then there was this little collaboration with ITZY and (G)I-DLE. They did a cover of Beyonce's Diva as well as a little dance number right after.

ITZY's debut year has been a great one. They won multiple rookie of the year and best new (female) artist awards and it looks like this is just the beginning. I suspect that going into the next decade their popularity will soar. Will they ever reach the levels of their labelmates, Twice? I'm not so sure about that but I definitely look forward to seeing what they bring in 2020 and beyond.
